Hi Eric

When you go to the Adobe link.
Right click the link and say: Download link file.
Take the zipped file out of your download folder onto your Desktop.
It will be a zipped file. Unzip the file and will get a file: FreeHand MXa Registration.

Then copy & paste this file into: Macintosh/Library/Application Support
- Create a folder called Macromedia (if there is none there)

Then also paste it into: Macintosh/Users/youraccount/Library/Application Support
- Create a folder called Macromedia (if there is none there)

Then relaunch Freehand.
Make sure Freehand is completely quit.

hope this helps

Hi Derek - thanks for your help.
I too have issues with the recent software update to Oz 10.6.4. My Freehand no quits on loading up every time on my macbook pro. I now have no way to update and edit Freehand files.

I have followed your steps unconditionally and still no luck! I am tearing my hair out here.
The main issue that I can see is that that link "http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/504/cpsid_50468.html" does not have a zipped file, but rather opens up in "Microsoft graph" all the time.

Any suggestions?
Kind Regards
Eric

Hi Mark

Try this it got me working.

What I did is:
1. Delete all Freehand & Macromedia files from you computer.
- Do this by open your zipped “FreehandMX-en” file.
- Click on “Freehand Installer”
- A window will come up and on the top left click on Easy install and change it it “Uninstall”
- Once complete Uninstalled then re-install Freehand

“”"”"DONT OPEN FREEHAND AT THIS STAGE”"”"

2. Download the Freehand Reg file from: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/504/cpsid_50468.html

3. Open your finder and go to:Macintosh/Library/Application Support
- Create a folder called Macromedia (if there is none there)
- Copy you downloaded unzipped Freehand Reg file and paste it into the Macromedia folder

4. Then also go to: Macintosh/Users/youraccount/Library/Application Support
- Create a folder called Macromedia (if there is none there)
- Copy you downloaded unzipped Freehand Reg file and paste it into the Macromedia folder

Then double click on your Freehand icon and it should open up……!!!!

Hope this helps…..

Let me know

We were having this issue with a clients machine. None of the fixes were working, but we came up with another way. Looks like there is a difference in 10.6.2 installs. You want the combo fix. We wrote the whole this up on our site.

Folks, Sounds like you all are the Freehand gurus... I'm about to buy a new mac mini with snow leopard. As so many others, I really need my Freehand but I can't find original disk. Was it in with the cs2 discs? The uninstalls and reinstalls you describe on your site is done from the discs, correct? Think I should just get the FH11 shown on your blog site?

Thanks from all Freehand lovers everywhere!

FreeHanders-- I am forced into Snow leopard ( a new iMac) when my G-4 died (very dead) and am trying to be as sure as possible that I will be able to both use FreeHand and be qable toa ccess old FH files. I am not a computer wizard and need directions in one word or less as to what to do with a brand new (I am taking it to an Apple store to see what they can salvage from the dead G-4 so I would like directions on what to do when I go!). I have no internet right now and am using the library computer--so may not be able to get suggestions easily. Any help in simple instructions would be greatly appreciated!
